Major plot hole: If NASA was ready to hire Cooper as the pilot for their most important spaceflight mission of all-time after he found their secret base by accident, why did they never thought about recruiting him before? He lives on a farm a few blocks away from your base god dammit, and you seem to have completely dismissed the other pilot that would have made the mission in his place, so clearly you thought Cooper was SO GOOD that he would be better than him after a 1-day crash-course on the new mission. So why didn't you recruit him months before that? He was more likely to say yes if you give him more than a few hours’ notice to say farewell to his children.
Major Plot hole: If a blight on Earth causes most crops to die and significantly reduce the available food sources for humanity, the later fact that humanity can grow food in space stations without any blight is a logical sign that they could all grow the same food on earth in green houses for a lot less money. So they never had to leave Earth after Murph found the formulas. Good job.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Minor Plot hole: The ninja turtles are huge 8 feet tall green monsters – and yet they fit effortlessly in the sewers and man-holes.
Minor Plot hole: When April is calling this other dude who has a crush on her in order to hitch a ride – he sees her phone number show on caller ID even if April is calling from a payphone.
Major Plot hole: April gets a picture of the 4 ninja turtles jumping off a building. In the next scene, she tries to persuade her boss of their existence and she doesn’t show THAT picture and instead astutely decides to show a 15 year old video of her and the normal-looking turtles when they are in their cages. That’s great thinking April; you won’t look crazy at all! Oh wait – you decide to show the good picture to the bad guy right after being fired for not having any good proof to back your crazy story? God damn.
Major Plot hole: Why did Shredder and his merry-men of useless stuntmen extras want to beat the shit-out of Splinter instead of capturing him? He is full of

X-Men Days of Future Past
Minor Plot hole: Mystique helps a bunch of mutants escape a busy Vietnam military base in a cargo plane while being disguised as an army colonel and the moment they leave she turns around and morphs into a blonde chick in front of hundreds of other soldiers and no one notices her.
Furthermore, the plan itself is pointless since Mystique didn't incapacitate or kill William Stryker who left the tent and identified the plane that the mutants took to escape. He has legal authority and could simply reorder the plane to land or prepare a nice welcoming committee for them. So Mystique’s full introduction scene served nothing.
Minor plot hole: Quicksilver puts on his headphones to listen to ‘’time in a bottle’’ on his Walkman while he dispatches the guards in the Pentagon kitchen even though the whole sequence lasts 0.005 second in real-time. Quicksilver might be lightning fast but his 1970s Sony Walkman sure as hell isn't.
The Dark Knight Rises
Minor Plot hole: So the Gotham police force is finally out of the sewers after 5 months of increasing malnutrition and gay urges. Their plan? Find Bane’s army (soldiers with AK-47s and tanks) and charge them with a few handguns. No surprise. No surrounding strategy. Just a good old suicidal medieval B-line. It’s a miracle Bane’s soldiers also happened to be retards themselves and decided to fist fight trained police officers instead of mowing them down with their weapons. But one thing is even weirder: all the cops were clean-shaved. This means that aside from food – Gillette razors and creams were the number 1 item sent in the sewers.
Minor Plot hole: People on the internet complain that Batman appeared out of nowhere in Gotham city after leaving the desert. Those same people would probably call on the UN Security council for a drone strike on Christopher Nolan’s house if they considered the fact that Bruce Wayne had to spend days hiding around one of Gotham’s destroyed bridge to paint a batman symbol with gasoline. What is a plot hole ?
Plot holes are contradictions in a screenplay. The elements that are contradicted can both be mentioned on paper or implied by the premise and universe of the screenplay.
There are 3 types of plot holes : minor plot holes, major plot holes, and super plot holes. They all refer to the same basic concept but are separated by the reach their contradictions have on the overall story.
Movieplotholes simply tries to identify all of them in popular films. There are three other types of errors that can be found in screenplays and we encourage you to visit the definition page to see our in-depth approach to find them all.
